Rough Collie Health & Genetics

There are multiple different facets to the topic of health. Genetic testing is one important part which helps to eradicate some of the most common diseases in Collies, but there's also other things to think about - such as a healthy skeleton with sound construction, heritable diseases which are non-testable, and a healthy temperament free from aggression or nervousness.

The Rough Collie is on the Kennel Club's Breed Watch scheme, for traits such as hind construction. It's important that we look at the health of a Collie holistically and pay equal importance to all the different features that provide them with a good quality of life.
